Abdominal surgery
Abdominal surgery covers surgical procedures that involve opening the abdomen. For each abdominal organ there is a different treatment or surgery.
Most common abdominal surgeries:
- Appendectomy
- Colostomy
- Cholecystectomy, a surgery to remove the gallbladder
- Caesarean section, also known as C-section
- Hysterectomy, the surgical removal of a woman’s uterus
- Inguinal hernia surgery
- Exploratory laparotomy
- Laparoscopy, approach to abdominal surgery where rigid tubes are inserted through small incisions into the abdominal cavity.
